Florida Farming

The little market I frequent never lets me down...
Bunches of freshly farmed Florida produce (try saying that 5 times fast) for a dollar per bag.
I walked with cucumbers, the world biggest carrots, spinach, radish, mint, sweet peppers, chili peppers and limes. I also treated myself to a starter herb plant (more mint... It's delicious when juiced!)

Nothing you by in the regular grocery store can compare to the taste of something that's been pulled fresh from the ground of your own city/state (backyard is the best) and still has a bit of dirt on it that needs to be rinsed off.

  2. I love proper vegetables, all irregular in form and looking like they really came from the earth, and you are right, if they come from your own little plot, nothing on earth tastes better. This market produce looks just wonderful, like it will taste of sunshine. Enjoy! x

  3. True dat. Local produce has taste and nutrition, unlike the empty shells trucked in from around the world. Here in NY we have Korean greengrocers with the freshest local vegetables. There's one at the end of my block: I have no excuse not to eat healthy!

  10. Holy moly those are giant carrots! I love the smell of fresh mint. Lots of mint grew along the lake where I grew up, and it was always fun running some of it over while mowing the lawn... it made the air smell amazing. I can imagine it would be great juiced.

  16. I wish I had a fresh market like that! I've heard of time shares in farms up by me in New York where you pay a certain amount in the beginning of the summer and then each week they give you their overruns of veggies and fruits...alright now I'm hungry!! =)

  18. We never had such huge vegetables here in Singapore. And we have wet markets that are usually over-populated with housewives during the day and when we finally get there in the noon, they're either closed or left with rotten and ugly ones. I loved yours nonetheless, and craving for many more organic finds. Yummmm!

  20. Thanks for visiting my blog Wendy. Your photographs made me think I could smell carrots freshly pulled from the earth. It is too early for fresh veggies here-apart from those we can grow on the windowsill.

    1. I feel like eating a salad right now!
I have so many local markets around me and the vegetables do taste better and last longer than the ones from the supermarket.
