Old shot of my youngest and her prized thrifted/vintage red rain hat. One of the things I love about Olivia is that, even at the age of 10, she has a very strong sense of personal style... She doesn't care what anyone else thinks and is oblivious to people that might look at her funny. She wears what makes her happy and she wears it with confidence, something I admire greatly in a person. :)
On a different note, Orlando's lows are going to be in the 30's tomorrow. Two days ago the temps were pushing 90 degrees. (?!?!?!) And with that, what does everyone have planned for their weekend? Other than a trip to the ballet (which is awesome and more than makes up for the next few words I'm about to type), I'll be partaking in clearing out and reorganizing my boyfriends home office and our bedroom.
Whatever you guys end up doing, have fun! (And stay warm!!!)
(Roasted marshmallows sound really good right now...)
Your daughter is adorable! I hope my girls rock their own style without a care. Ha...when I was younger I would layer on all of this old jewelry from my grandma and great aunt. I would wear it to school and to family parties...God Bless mamas who let their daughter do their thing!!! Have a great weekend and stay warm...the weather thing is another topic...climate change?!?! Take care lady!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable hat. We need more Olivias in the world and more mother like you because for some it's not easy being who you are so it helps having support and a soft place to land.
ReplyDeleteI plan to spend my weekend walking around my city and being among people and all that sociable loveliness.
Enjoy your weekend!
I'm glad to see that you are allowing her to "do her thing". I think too many people are too hung up on kids looking perfect--let them be kids and develop a style!
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting some snowy weather here in the north, so I will be taking care of some stuff inside the teepee--the main one being pulling out my spring/summer clothing bins and seeing if anything needs culled. Have a great one!
Love the red hat--it's fun to wear things that "set you apart". Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteI'd say 30s is really rare for down there eh? What's the coldest it gets in Orlando?
ReplyDeleteWe've had a few winters where the temps have reached the teens and ONCE (lol) it even lightly snowed... For, like, 10 minutes. Talk about a bunch of people happily freaking out!
DeleteIt's an adorable hat . It's true that all those who cares for others choices , couldn't be happy with their selves . So it amazingly great if she has that sense from a minor stage :)
ReplyDeleteI'm resting home and studying this week ;)

Love her hat! And hooray for her style and confidence! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletedance class, walking a friend's lab just because I miss that little pooch, and having some sister time before my little sister leaves for Italy for 3 months O_o!!
ReplyDeleteYay for Olivia's confidence. Boldness works in fashion and self-expression. Good luck with the mercurial weather.
ReplyDeleteHey Wendy! Awh thanks you for all of your compliments. Yup, have 3 more days of being 59. I was 49 when my first grandchild was born. I thought I was way overdue for a grandchild. I married [the first time*] when 23 and had first baby at 25. My Mom married at 23 had first baby at 25. My oldest dd married at 22 and had first child at 24. That doesn't sound too old but it made me a grandparent later. That is fine with me. Thank you for noticing so many of my details. Yay! That is why I put them as details. Your daughter in her hat is FABULOUS. Good luck on clean and sorting and organizing. THAT IS MY FAVORITE THING TO DO. ...Our Bedroom is getting an overhaul today, too. Have to get the house ready for my PAR-TAY on Sunday night. Yay, happy 6-0 to MOI!!! (hug) *see "About My Life" for details.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, brillant to know what you like at such at young age.
ReplyDeleteHard to imagine 90 degrees. x
She's so lovely. I admire her personality and personal sense of style too! :) It's so "boring" when all girls are dressed up in pink Hello Kitty-outfits - or designer stuff, made to look little adults.

Love the picture ♥ And creds to her for being different, all the awesome people are.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I was like that when I was a kid too xD Style is such an ongoing journey for me, Loving every step of the way.
I'm having a big costume birthday party :D Me and V are going dressed as Bonnie and Clyde. Kitty-lady didn't want to dress up, but I made her a tu-tu anyway. I hope she'll wear it ♥
i can just tell from her profile, messy hair and a bright red hat that she is gorgeous!! good for her having personal style. at her age, i was so worried about "fitting in" i forgot to just enjoy being young doing/wearing whatever. you must be doing an impeccable job!!
ReplyDeleteHey i was tagged in the liebeter award earlier and tagged you in it for you to complete it if you like http://wishingforla.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/liebster-award.html :) i'm not 100% sure what it is but it was fun haha :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love your daughter's sense of style and the fact that she wears what she likes and doesn't care what others think. Good for her! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's great that your daughter has such a strong sense of style. You don't see that much with younger folk, do you? More like mall style and generic looks. You've made me think that I'll raise my kidlet going to thrift shops as that is where you can truly experiment - mind, not going to a thrift shop would never be an option, so the kid's gonna get it one way or the other! Have a happy weekend - wow, glorious warm temps for you! It was 7 degrees C here today and I was thrilled with that! Xo
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is lovely! Hopefully she'll hold on to that independent spirit, and start blogging soon!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more about Fred Schneider - I love the B-52s, and I bet they are really fun people!
Olivia is a girl after my own heart. What a darling girl she is! I hope she never loses her sense of independence and self-assuredness.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend? Well, there's an adventure sports film festival we are attending plus a baby shower. There might be a trip to Trader Joe's. (Hope so.) I'd like to get in a one hour swim for exercise, too. Have a great indoor pool I go to. Take care and I hope you and Olivia have a great weekennd, too!Susan
love this! would you like to follow each other? let me know!
ReplyDeleteI could go for some of that orlando heat
DeleteLooove her hat, beautiful photo and ode to defiant personal style. I admire that in anyone, too :) The weather is just as skitzo here in North Florida. I suppose I've gotten used to it after over a decade of living here.
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable as usual. My daughter is the same - wears whatever she wants and doesn't care what anyone thinks (including moi). I hope they can hold onto that independence. Sorry about the cold weather. Not. ;)
ReplyDeleteShe's a cutie! I miss having a little girl around. My daughter had long black hair just like that and wore whatever she liked, too. Usually stripes and polka dots together! Hope your weather warms up. Have fun organizing. I'll be pet sitting my daughter's two dachshunds. Lots of commotion for me this weekend! xxoo
ReplyDeleteNice hat to go to the supermarket!! :P

ReplyDeleteHooray for Olivia, and her Mom for nurturing her independent spirit. I'm heading out on a hunt for rain gear today. I will keep Olivia's great find in my head for inspiration.

Awesome photo.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter is the same way; she has her own way of dressing and was tease and ridicule during her high school years. Now that she is in college she is known in her circle of friends for her fashion sense.
ReplyDeleteHere in South Florida we are going to have low temperature as well!
I'm excited that I finally get to wear my leggings and jackets next week!

ReplyDeleteI admire her for standing above the crowd and following the dictates of her heart. My youngest daughters (twins) are like that, although they couldn't be more opposite in choice of clothing.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for weather, I'm sure looking forward to later this week when temps get back to mid to high 80s (Cape Coral).
She's lovely !
